Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous

Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous grew out of the Atheists Meetup group in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We seek to provide an opportunity for those who self-identify as atheists to meet with one another for fellowship and to discuss matters of mutual interest. --Dan Nerren, moderator

TAM 9.28.08

There are people who would like to meet with us, but due to circumstances beyond our control, they are not able to join with us on the two dates we get together each month. As an experiment, Kim will be hosting meetings in the morning at a coffee shop or McDonald's or some other venue. These meetings will start at approximately 7:00 am, but you may drop by anytime up to 9:00 am. You may stay for 30 minutes, 15 minutes, or however long you wish.

Rayven volunteered (or maybe was drafted) to investigate venues to hold fun nights for our group. Such a gathering would give our group four times in the month when we could get together.

Kenny announced that we might have to move. Laury plans to sell the shop and move elsewhere. We have no way at this time of knowing what the new owner(s) might do about our using the shop on Sundays, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a green light.

Bill suggested that we might want to contact the faculty at TCC and OSU-Tulsa to let them be aware of our presence in the community. If one of the faculty is asked about freethought organizations in the community, they might possibly refer the student to us.

We passed a sack around for people to make contributions to support our connection to Meetup.com. We have to pay $72.00 for each six months. Prior to today I had on hand $59.10. Today's collection came to $82.00, bringing our total to $141.10.

Today we had a guest speaker, virologist Abbie Smith from OU. Abbie spoke extemporaneously for about an hour. Then she fielded questions from the 22 members present.
