Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous

Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous grew out of the Atheists Meetup group in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We seek to provide an opportunity for those who self-identify as atheists to meet with one another for fellowship and to discuss matters of mutual interest. --Dan Nerren, moderator

Actually doing something

We freethinkers do a lot of talking, but we don't act often upon what we talk about. As the cliche goes, we talk the talk but don't walk the walk. If you would like to do more walking, here is an idea. Many of you will recognize the name Brian Flemming from the DVDThe God Who Wasn't There.

Brian Sapient of the Rational Response Squad interviews Brian Flemming in this 18-min. MP3 clip. Brian and Brian discuss how the War on Easter is being conducted, why it is being conducted, and the effectiveness of ridicule in combating noxious institutions.

To hear the interview, go to www.waroneaster.org. Find the post titled "Radio interview." Look for the text in the paragraph above. Put your cursor on "18-min. MP3 clip" and click.

Penn and Teller has some great satire. I don't subscribe to Showtime, but I bought the first two seasons of their program, "Bullshit" on DVD. Their series was talked about this weekend at the Atheist Alliance convention in Kansas City in a session on atheism in the media. I heard they recently aired an episode they call "Mother Fucking Teresa." Pardon me if this language offends you.

I hope you can attend the Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous on Sunday, April 23, 2:00 PM at Panera Bread. It would be a good time to talk about freethought tactics. I will post something about the rendezvous tomorrow on this blog. Also I will try to write something about the convention I went to in Kansas City over the weekend.
