Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous

Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous grew out of the Atheists Meetup group in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We seek to provide an opportunity for those who self-identify as atheists to meet with one another for fellowship and to discuss matters of mutual interest. --Dan Nerren, moderator

Freethought events

Yesterday was our monthly ALGAE luncheon at White River Fish Market. Attending were Larry Hi, Larry Ho, Dave, Diane (first-timer), Gail, Jan, and myself. We talked about back problems and what to do about such. I told the group that I had been slowed down by a herniated disk. The problem is at L4. I am supposed to talk with a neurosurgeon soon. If any of you have experience in this area and would like to share your experience with me or give me advice, please write to me.

We also talked about movies and books. The movie we are all wanting to see right now is An Inconvenient Truth. Some of us recently enjoyed A Prairie Home Companion. I saw it at Circle Cinema, Tulsa's only nonprofit theater. Some of the books that came up in our conversation were American Theocracy by Kevin Phillips, Armed Madhouse by Greg Palast, and Alchemy of Love and Lust by Theresa Crenshaw. Larry Hi told us of his latest adventures in house renovation, which if he were making a TV series, he would call "This Damned Old House."

It was good to see old friends again, and we welcome Diane and hope she will want to join us again soon.

Coming up this weekend, we have the Food and Fellowship at 11:30am on Saturday, June 24, at Panera Bread at 41st and Hudson. Then the next day, again at the same location -- Panera Bread -- we have the Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous. Attendees at the TAR meeting are invited to bring a freethought reading to share with the group (and anyone else who may be within earshot). We will also talk about current events and books of interest.
