Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous

Tulsa Atheist Rendezvous grew out of the Atheists Meetup group in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We seek to provide an opportunity for those who self-identify as atheists to meet with one another for fellowship and to discuss matters of mutual interest. --Dan Nerren, moderator

TAM for November 2007

Thirteen people showed up for the Tulsa Atheists Meetup this afternoon at The Hideaway Pizza restaurant. Kenny Nipp, our agent provocateur, had been to New York City where he attended a meeting of the NYC Atheists Meetup. Ken Bronstein had given Kenny some newsletters and 2008 Atheist calendars for distribution among our membership. The calendar proved to be so popular that two or three of the wait staff at the restaurant asking about the calendars each gave a five dollar donation in return for a calendar. Anyone attending the meetup was able to get a calendar for free. When hung, the calendar measures a foot wide by two feet long. At the top half is a portrait of a famous atheist, and the grid for the month is on the bottom half. Kenny is going to contact Ken Bronstein of the NYC Atheists Meetup and see if he can get more of these popular calendars.

Donations were good today. With only 13 of us there, we raised $44. Given that we had $34.10 on hand, we now have $78.10. I can now retire the begging bowl until April of next year. Twenty additional dollars were raised toward a tabling project. Anyone aware of an upcoming event where our group might set up a table and distribute literature about our group is asked to contact Kenny or myself.

Next, I read a satirical piece written by Woody Allen pertaining to the alleged attempt by Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. General conversation followed as the wait staff brought our orders into the room.

Kenny has located someone who does silkscreening for a reasonable price. Is there anybody in our group with artistic ability? If that is you, please contact Kenny or myself.
